We understand that this decision may cause
a major inconvenience for those that had planned to travel to Benson this week, and we can ensure you that it was not made
lightly. The extent of the damage from Hurricane Florence in North Carolina has been nothing short of catastrophic. Many major
roads through Central and Eastern North Carolina are flooded, damaged, or otherwise impassable. There is no guarantee that
conditions will significantly improve in time for vendors and attendees to arrive and leave Benson safely.
All vendors and campers that have paid deposits
for permits and/or campsites to the Benson Chamber or the Town of Benson will have their deposits honored on the rescheduled
dates. If a vendor or camper cannot attend in October, they will be given a full refund.
The Benson Chamber will release more information as it becomes available,
and will work with all of our partners to ensure that the 69th Annual Mule Days Celebration is the best and safest event possible
for our vendors and attendees October 25 – 28, 2018.

The Annual Sampson County Gospel Sing (formerly known as the W. F.
"Fleet" Sessoms Memorial Sing) is scheduled to take place the
4th Saturday in September of each year. It has been held at the
Clinton Family Worship Center, 103 Raiford Street in Clinton, NC
for
the past several years, but is ONLINE ONLY this year due to the pandemic
and
for the safety of singers, directors, and audience. There is no
charge to participate and is FREE and open to the public.

Mr Sessoms was a great singer and lover of gospel music. To his many,
many friends he was known as " Uncle Fleet." He was a devoted member of Pleasant Union Baptist Church, and Sunday
School Superintendent until his death. A lovely monument was placed at his grave by his family and friends of this sing. His
heart was filled with love for his fellowman. He was happiest when helping others. When he was in the midst of good singing
he said he felt like the sunshine of Heaven was all around him.
