To protect the health and safety of the Sampson County Gospel Sing attendees, the Sampson County Gospel Sing board of directors has made the difficult decision to postpone the 101st Annual Sampson County Gospel Sing. It is now scheduled to take place next year. This postponement will allow everyone to remain 100% focused on disaster and cleanup recovery from Hurricane Florence. We understand that this decision may cause a major inconvenience for those that had planned to travel to the sing this coming Saturday, Sept 22nd and we can ensure you that it was not made lightly. The extent of the damage from Hurricane Florence in North Carolina has been nothing short of catastrophic. Many major roads through Central and Eastern North Carolina are flooded, damaged, or otherwise impassable. There is no guarantee that conditions will significantly improve in time for singers and attendees to arrive and leave the Sampson County Gospel Sing safely.  All sponsors that have paid for ads in our booklet to the Sampson County Gospel Sing will have their ads honored on the rescheduled dates next year.  The Board of Directors will get out more information as it becomes available, and will work with all of our sponsors to ensure that the 101st Sampson County Gospel Sing is the best and safest event possible for our attendees  For more information, please contact the Sampson County Gospel Sing at 910-742-8023.This postponement will allow law enforcement, emergency personnel, and all other first-responders to remain 100% focused on disaster and response recovery from Hurricane Florence.

History

Mr Sessoms was a great singer and lover of gospel music. To his many, many friends he was known as " Uncle Fleet." He was a devoted member of Pleasant Union Baptist Church, and Sunday School Superintendent until his death. A lovely monument was placed at his grave by his family and friends of this sing. His heart was filled with love for his fellowman. He was happiest when helping others. When he was in the midst of good singing he said he felt like the sunshine of Heaven was all around him.
